You got stopped by the police or a friend told you one of your car lights was out. What now? Sure, you can hope the local car shop has your automotive light bulbs in stock, but even if they do - are you really getting the best deal?
Important advice
When you shop for light bulbs, make sure that they are DOT (Department of Transportation) approved. There is a lot of chinese import that may look like a good deal, but was never approved for use on US highways. If you are from a European country, make sure you verify what the local standards are. When you purchase a light bulb, it should also come with warranty. The standard warranty is the lifetime of the automotive light bulb, usually two years. Good manufacters will have warranty, the bad ones won't.
What kind of automotive light bulbs can you buy?
You'd be surprised at the variety of light bulbs that you can find online: Stop/Tail/Turn Lights,Sequential Flashing Arrow,Truck Light Plugs, Connectors & Adapters,Marker/Clearance Lights, PC-Rated Marker/Clearance Lights, Light Bars ,Top Marker/Clearance Lights, License Plate Lights. Those are just a few that I could find
My own story
Truth is, my wife knows more about cars than I do. She grew up around car mechanics and knows the ins-and-outs. Car lights fail from time to time. She told me to get it from the main supplier the local car shop gets it from. I'm more into computers so I looked it up online and turned out they had a website. I paid 50% less - and that's AFTER shipping! Installation was easy too. Usually car lights are easily accessible since they often need replacement. Just pop the old one out, and the new one in. Don't forget to test before driving off ;)
Where to buy?
My two cents, but I buy all my stuff online. I know there's still those out there that doubt if it's safe, but just use reputable sites who pay for advertising / marketing, or established websites. I really save a lot of money since I have the chance to compare dozens of stores instead of just accepting the price at my local Car Shop. Shop around online! You will be happy for the money saved - as am I.
